The Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe appoints new CEO

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECZim) has appointed Anymore Taruvinga, as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to serve from September 1, 2022.

According to the commission’s board, Mr Taruvinga was instrumental in the diversification of the ZSE and capital markets in general through the development of the framework for new securities products such as the Exchange Traded Funds and Real Estate Investment Trusts.

“Apart from a deep knowledge of local markets, Anymore brings a wealth of practical experience in marketing, business development, strategy and financial analysis,” reads the statement.

Anymore Taruvinga is a CFA charter holder with over 14 years of experience in the banking and capital markets sectors, including as Acting Head of Research and Group Equities Market Analyst for Afrasia Kingdom Holdings, Investment Analyst for MMC Capital and Group Research Analyst for Ecobank.

“His immediate past position was Head of the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) Markets responsible for ZSE operations, trading, and business development,” reads the statement.

Speaking to Bkays Money, Mr Taruvinga said he is still serving his notice with the ZSE and will only begin focusing on the business of the commission next month.

Taruvinga takes over from Tafadzwa Chinamo, who left SECZim in January 2022.
